On October 24, 2024, Green Luxe Pods had it’s first exhibit at DC Startup Week Startup Showcase. It was an exciting, albeit stressful time in our startup journey.
We didn’t know what to expect. The event was billed as an opportunity to meet potential clients and investors. Our minimum expectation was that our sustainable housing solution as well as pricing would be validated and we would grow our followers.
As with many startups, we had a limited budget and an aggressive strategy on how we wanted to showcase Green Luxe Pods.
Learning SketchUp for Sustainable Modular Housing Design
Although I had received several quotes for absolutely stunning renders and walk throughs, it would have maxed out our budget for Green Luxe Pods over the next few months. I opted to learn how to prepare the renders to optimize our budget.
This meant learning Sketchup, which I had no clue how it worked. After several hours which stretched into days, I taught myself Sketchup through various YouTube videos.
Connecting with Eco-Conscious Investors at DC Startup Week
Heading into Exhibit Day, we didn’t know what to expect. Would folks connect with our product? Is our initial pricing reasonable? Will our exhibit engage people? Any new connections or leads? So many unknowns.
Our questions proved to be unfounded. We had a great group of folks come by and engage with us all day (10 – 4). They connected with our solution for smart, stylish and sustainable housing and wanted to know what’s next on our journey. Several future use cases of our homes were presented to us and lots of leads to follow up with.
